Guide to Santa Clarita's Farmers Markets

Old Town Newhall & Canyon Country Farmers Markets

By Liga Zervena April 29, 2023

Santa Clarita sits in a perfect geographical SoCal location - an area where different produce can be grown locally. Which makes the Santa Clarita farmers markets a go to source for locally grown produce and other locally created goods. All the produce sold at the farmer's markets here comes from certified California State farms. Old Town Newhall and Canyon Country farmers markets both feature small family owned farms and local food artisans - bringing you unbeatable quality and freshest produce around! Both markets also offer goods produced by local licensed businesses, including artisan bread, sweets, fresh seafood, meats, herbs and much more! There is something for every foodie at the SCV Farmers markets!

Old Town Newhall Farmers Market first opened its doors, or should I say tents, in 2015 and has grown bigger and better over the last 8 years. It is the market that features more vendors than it's little brother, The Canyon Country farmers market. The Canyon Country Farmers Market just celebrated its one year anniversary on April, 26th. The occasion was celebrated with live music, cake, giveaways and free face painting! When visiting the farmers market, I love that you get to meet the farmers and growers in person and chat about their passion for the work they do, and the impact they make in the local community.

There are a few vendors that we love to visit when going to our farmers markets. One of my families favorite is the House of the Peruvian Cookie. Their authentic, traditional Peruvian cookies Alfajores are to die for. Their coffee flavored hearts cookies are my favorite and usually don't last long in our house!

We also visited several fruit vendors for their delicious and fresh fruit.

Angelo Ranch bring the sweetest citrus to the SCV farmers markets! My 10 year old, who usually stays away from citrus fruit has started eating mandarins and oranges since we have been getting them from Angelo Ranch stand. They're always sweet and juicy! They also offer fresh squeezed juices using their fruits. They offer orange juice, tangerine, blood orange and others!

Aziz Farms bring their delicious apples, dates, nuts, and one of my favorites - they make their own dried cherries from the cherries grown at their farm. Their pink lady apples are the sweetest I've ever had! Second generation farmer Mark Tadros is the owner of Aziz farms and they're located in the Coachella Valley!

As with any good farmers market we can't forget about eggs! Amazing jumbo and large eggs available from Acton's Canyon Meadow Farms! They're a family owned and run farm with over 25 years of happy and free range chickens!

Old Town Newhall Farmers Market is open year round on Saturday mornings from 8 am to 1 pm in the parking lot of Old Town Newhall Library. Canyon Country Farmers Market is held on Wednesday afternoons from 4 pm to 8 pm. in the parking lot of the Canyon Country Community Center. Both markets are open year round - rain or shine! Come on out to either of the markets to shop and experience the locally grown produce, and prepared foods - it's a wonderful way to support the hardworking farmers and small businesses in the area!
