Our family went to Santa Clarita Education Foundation's Touch-a-Truck event, and it was an exciting, hands-on adventure for everyone! Each year brings more special memories with the interactive elements taking the whole event up levels beyond other events. Kids and adults had the rare chance to explore over 20 different vehicles up close from a police mobile HQ unit to towering cranes, tow trucks, and even a helicopter.
The thrill was in the details, as kids climbed into the driver's seat, tested out sirens, flashed emergency lights, and even spoke into the loudspeakers. It felt like a playground of possibilities, where kids could feel the excitement of "driving" these incredible machines. Police officers, firefighters, and construction workers on hand answered endless questions and demonstrated different vehicle functions, making it a day of learning as well as fun.
My son's favorite thing was the box maze, a setup created by a local moving company right inside a semi-truck. My son went through the maze at least 6 times, navigating the twists and turns with glee. It was thrilling to see him so engaged in exploring the path and finding his way out, and it added a unique element to the event.
Adding to the excitement, a small train gave kids another way to explore the event area, and there was even a beach ball drop, where dozens of bright beachballs cascaded down, sparking a joyful scramble as kids tried to catch them. The kids also had the option to meet Spiderman with his Spider bike.
We ended the day with some fun souvenirs from the booths, including reusable water balloons, a perfect memento to remember the fun we had. From climbing into big rigs and buses to navigating the box maze and catching beach balls, Touch-a-Truck was a perfect family day out, and we can't wait to see what new fun next year will bring!
